About The
Artist: Steve and The Mayor of Barrie, Dave Aspden,
at Kempenfest 2007.
Steven
Young was born in Brantford, Ontario in 1983 and moved to Hornepayne in northern Ontario in 1992.
He first tried rock as a medium while on vacation in Cuba in 1995. He now uses
acrylic paints on canvas and rock from a local quarry. Steve is most interested

From 1996 - 2002, Steve lived with his parents just east of Wiarton overlooking
Colpoy's Bay, a source of inspiration for many of his pieces. He has had no
formal training in art. In October 2005, Steve graduated from Electrical Engineering Technology,
Automated Systems, at Georgian College in Barrie. He is currently working as an
artist and webmaster full-time.
